Hope Academy Hope Academy is a tutoring program offered through Cole Community Center. At OKC First Church of the Nazarene, it’s a twice-a-week program that combines childhood literacy and tutoring classes on Tuesday nights with Celebration Station (a kids’ program that runs concurrently with Celebrate Recovery) on Thursday nights. The goal is to provide an opportunity for adult literacy learners to bring their children for an enriching and learning experience as well.
Tuesday ‘s schedule will specifically address reading and writing skills. Reading and comprehension, as well as fluency, will be the components of this balanced academic program. Our literacy teacher is a certified elementary teacher. She has been tutoring children of adult learners in the CLC LEAP program for the past two years.
Hope Academy’s Thursday schedule specifically highlights the curriculum of Celebration Station. Celebration Station covers the same topics Celebrate Recovery (for adults) does—just translated into language and experiences kids can understand.
Hope Academy is also offered on site at Meridian Ridge Apartments. Please contact Pastor Mike at mikel@okcfirstnaz.org or call the church office for more information.
