Recognizing that the initial gift for the Cole Community Center was not cash; but land from the estate of
Wilma Cole we want you to be aware of the many creative ways you might contribute to this exciting project. Find out how to contribute in unique and creative ways that do not involve writing a check!
A typical American family holds less than 10% of our accumulated wealth in cash. The remaining 90% is held in assets such as: real estate, personal possessions, collectables, antiques, jewelry, financial accounts, life insurance, retirement plans and business interests. There are financial, tax and personal reasons why giving from our non-cash resources might be more beneficial than giving out of our checkbooks.
Why Give Assets instead of Cash?
• Avoid Capital Gains Tax on Appreciated Property
• Conserve Cash Assets
• Charitable Income Tax Deduction Equal to the Fair Market Value of the Gift (most cases)
• Give More than You Thought Possible
What Can I Give?
Individuals
• Publicly Traded Securities (stocks, bonds, mutual funds, etc.)
• Paid-up Life Insurance Contracts
• Land
• Commercial Real Estate
• 2nd Homes
• Personal Property, Antiques, Collectables, etc.
(special tax rules apply)
Business Owners
• Excess Inventory
• Privately Held Stock
This is just a partial list of non-cash items that could be given to support the capital campaign or church budget. Please contact the church office before making your non-cash gift so we can make sure we will be able to accept and liquidate your gift and so that you will be clear as to the tax benefits of your gift.
OKC First Church partners with the Church of the Nazarene Foundation to accept and liquidate non-cash gifts. We may put you in touch with a representative from the Nazarene Foundation to assist us with your non-cash gift to OKC First Church.
